My Priorities for Representing Lolland on the City Council

Focus on a Global Lolland

I am running for Lolland City Council as a natural extension of my lifelong commitment to internationalization and global mobility—both professionally and through my volunteer work.

My campaign is centered on building a sustainable, supportive ecosystem across Lolland that benefits international citizens, repatriating Danes, Danish citizens, organizations, and businesses alike.

For more than 30 years, I have worked with globalization and international collaboration, both professionally and personally. Creating spaces and leading efforts for intercultural understanding, building supportive and diverse communities, and inclusion and belonging is not just my passion—it’s part of my DNA.

Being a spokesperson for internationalization and supporting internationals comes naturally to me. Throughout my career, I have felt a deep responsibility and gone to great lengths to support the well-being, empowerment, and full participation of international citizens to help them thrive in their new environs, and I will continue to work for this as a City Council member in Lolland Municipality.

International employees and their families are an asset—for Lolland and for the companies that welcome them. If we want international talent to choose Lolland and invest their time and energy in our local communities, we must build the right infrastructure that is human-centered, prioritizes their well-being, and invests in their long-term future here.

International newcomers bring fresh perspectives, knowledge, and experience from around the world. They contribute to innovation and development while helping Danish companies access the skilled talent they need to remain competitive and ensure continued growth and quality in a global market.

That is why my platform includes a strong and deliberate focus on inclusion, quality housing and schooling, career opportunities, social networks, and quality of life. Together, these elements will make Lolland not just a workplace—but a home—for international newcomers, repatriating Danes, and their families.

Starting over in a new country is never easy. There is no script. It takes time to understand the unwritten rules, navigate information often available only in Danish, build a sense of belonging, and feel at home. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to learn Danish, adapt to new systems here, and find my place in a new community, workplace, and Danish society in general.

I also know how rewarding it can be when it works—when newcomers are welcomed, supported, and encouraged to thrive. That is the kind of Lolland I want to help build: a community with a global outlook that is open, inclusive, and interconnected.

My Journey and Commitment to Lolland

Over the past 17 years in Denmark, I have become an integral part of Danish society and see myself as a bridge between Danish and international citizens — with one foot in each world. My connection to Denmark began when I first arrived as a 16-year-old Rotary exchange student. With a career in university internationalization in the US, I returned to Denmark in 2008 for work at Copenhagen Business School, where my professional and personal journey in Denmark truly began.

I met my Danish husband, and together we built a family with roots here in Denmark. In 2015, my career took us to Saudi Arabia, where we enjoyed three adventurous years abroad. When we returned to Denmark, we settled on Møn for several years until, in 2020, we discovered that Lolland International School would be opening in 2021 as Denmark's first bilingual public school. That discovery — and what it represented — inspired our decision to move to Lolland with our bilingual children and take part in the island’s ongoing growth, development, and internationalization.

Since 2021, I have been deeply engaged in the local community here on Lolland. I have collaborated with the municipality, associations, and local companies to promote internationalization and to support newcomers. I serve as an International Welcome Ambassador for Lolland Municipality, and I am the founder of International Community Lolland-Falster and Global Lolland — initiatives dedicated to sharing reliable information about the area and Denmark, while creating inclusive activities and events that strengthen networks and foster diverse communities.

My community involvement also extends across Lolland. I am a member of the Maribo-Rødby Rotary Club, a board member at Lolland International School and Maribo Craft Days, and I take an active part in local culture through the Rainbow Gospel Choir. I also volunteer with Natteravnene, the Whitsun Festival, and the Maribo Jazz Festival, and with a grandfather who comes from Munich, Germany, I am proud to serve as an ambassador for Maribo Oktoberfest.

On a national level, I am one of the co-founders of InDe – Internationals of Denmark, a community of dedicated Danes and internationals working to build a more open, vibrant, and inclusive Denmark. Together, we amplify voices, build bridges between cultures, and break down barriers — so that everyone, regardless of background, can truly feel at home here.

As no. 4 on list C, I am running with Conservative Lolland, I will work for:

Globalization and growth for the benefit of the whole of Lolland – and for our common future—

• A municipality with a global outlook

• Strong support for international newcomers – both before arrival and after settlement

• Focus on inclusion, integration, and retention of international citizens

• Job and career support for international citizens

• High-quality schools and educational opportunities with a worldview, an international curriculum, and global standards

• Modern and quality-conscious housing in and around the cities

• A rich and diverse cultural and leisure life

• Strong communities where everyone can feel a sense of belonging and find their place

• Sustainable business and tourism development to strengthen local communities, create new opportunities throughout Lolland, and position Lolland on the global stage

I encourage you to use your voice and vote for me, for a Global Lolland, so that I can work on your behalf to create a sustainable ecosystem and infrastructure that improves the quality of life and economic vitality, benefiting the whole of Lolland.

Together, we can make a positive impact on the social and economic development of a Global Lolland!
